Welcome to Milwaukee!
Seated on the beautiful shore of Lake Michigan, Milwaukee is the largest metropolitan area in Wisconsin and the 30th largest city in the United States.
Equally as diverse and even more intriguing is the landscape of wonderful instruments that we plan to showcase during the convention. Though often overshadowed by activity of larger firms on the East Coast, Wisconsin boasted many important and innovative organ builders in the 19th and early 20th centuries–including William Schuelke, George Weickhardt, Phillip Wirsching, Adolph Wangerin, Bernard Schaefer, Dan Barton, Jerome Meyer, Edmond Verlinden, Octavius Marshall, and others–all of whom were known for their impeccable craftsmanship. In more recent years, local firms such as J.C. Taylor & Co., Peters, Weiland & Co., Wahl Organbuilders, and Nolte Organbuilders have sympathetically restored and saved many of these treasures. The goal of this convention is to celebrate these local treasures while also paying homage to interesting examples by other firms, such as Wadsworth & Bro., Henry Pilcher’s Sons, Carl Barckhoff, J.W. Steere & Son, Skinner Organ Co., and many others.
We cannot wait to welcome you!
