Gardner/Fox will be constructing a visitor’s center, in place of the existing pool house as well as creating a welcome kiosk and covered pavilion at the entrance to the garden.

In addition to the new construction Gardner/Fox will also be renovating the existing carriage house and tractor barn. Some of our other improvements include restoring the rose wall, modifying the rocky paths and repairing the various gates around the estate.

As part of the overall plan by Natural Lands Trust, the original Haas Home will be renovated to create a museum for future visitors.

Many of those who attended the Philadelphia convention made an extra effort to visit the future home of the OHS in Villanova, Pennsylvania, shortly before the beginning of renovations. Known as Stoneleigh, the estate of the Haas family is now under rigorous reconstruction to accommodate the needs of its new tenants, with funds provided by the Wyncote Foundation. These photos of reconstruction were taken in late January 2017.

Kauffman, who relocated to the Philadelphia region for the position, has a distinguished 17-year career in public horticulture.
