Jewell Theatre
Seattle, WA
Opus 578
Opus 578 was a
I-manual, tubular-pneumatic organ of 7 ranks, and it was originally
built for Seattle's Jewell Theatre.
It also had a 58-note roll-player. No stoplist has yet been found.
In 1957, Glen D. White of Seattle acquired the instrument and rebuilt
it with a new console for the chapel of First Free Methodist Church
on the north side of Queen Anne Hill and adjacent to Seattle
Pacific University.
It was rebuilt in 1984 by Balcom & Vaughan Pipe Organs, Inc. who
also built all new chests.
Of the extant pipework, the 16' and 8' octaves of the unit Rohr Flute
are original Estey, and the pipes are marked "C Flt". The 8'
Viola pipes are actually marked "Salic." and appear to be
original Estey. And the 4' Harmonic Flute is also definitely Estey.
The 8' Voix Celeste and 8' Dulciana appear to be Kimball, and the
balance of the Rohr Flute is of unknown source or provenance.
