Notes
This organ was
essentially an electrification of the church's existing Wm. A. Johnson
tracker organ, opus 389, of 1873.
New 61-note chests were provided to replace the original 58-note
slider chests, and a new console was also provided.
The Johnson case was retained. The organ was free-standing and encased
in the rear gallery.
The Great had no tonal
changes made to it - save for a new 8' Open Diapason on the Great.
The original Johnson 8' Open Diapason was retained and moved to the
Pedal division.
On the Swell, a new 8'
Salicional was installed in place of the 4' Harmonic Flute, and the
original Johnson 8' Keraulophon
became the 8' Voix Celeste. And despite a stop named 4' Harmonic
Flute. . .the actual pipes retained and playing
were the original 4' Fugara pipes.
Around 1968, Ray
Douglas of Groton, MA rebuilt the organ, disposing of the Johnson case.
The Estey console was replaced with a new Klann console.
Some tonal changes were made through unification of existing
ranks.
In 1989, the organ was sold and replaced with an Allen electronic organ.
