The
organ was originally built for the Providence, RI. residence of James
R. McColl on Waterman Street.
It was rebuilt by Estey in 1929.
The home no longer exists.
In 1941, it was removed and reinstalled in the auditorium of Butler
Hospital in Providence, RI.
In 1988, it was acquired by Laurence W. Leonard of Laconia, NH. and
moved to his residence.
It was placed in storage for several years
while an addition was added to the house to serve as the organ
chambers.
The original console was replaced with a used console from Estey opus
1527, 1917
- originally built for the Fowlerville, MI
residence of John C. Ellsworth.
The manuals are used M.P. Moller manuals. The original Estey keyboards
did have three pistons for the Swell and
three pistons for the Great.

Notes
Several additions have
been made to the organ. The Haskelled 8' Cornopean was acquired
from an Estey originally built for
St. Patrick's RC Church in
Milford, NH. (opus 1419, 1916). The original chest was also saved and
rebuilt with direct-electric action magnets so that the stops could be
duplexed to
play on both manuals.
The Pedal 16' Trombone came from a II-manual Aeolian built in 1913 as
opus 1257 for the Moultonboro, NH. residence of
Thomas G. Plant. The
residence was known as Castle in the Clouds.
The Echo division is
from several sources. The matched 8' Aeoline and 8' Unda Maris are from
the 19?? Hutchings-Votey organ built for the
Congregational Church in Laconia, NH. The 8' Stopped Diapason is
from St. Patrick's RC Church in Milford, NH. And lastly, the 8' Vox
Humana is from Estey Opus 1509, built in 1917 for the Flint, MI.
residence of Charles S. Mott,
and rebuilt with a 5-rank Echo division
in 1925 as opus 2399.
Whenever the Echo
division is coupled to either the Great or Swell division, it is
affected by the intra-manual couplers of that division.
Except for the chimes,
harp, snare drum on the Great and Bass Drum on the Pedal, the other
percussions
are only available as called-for by the player rolls - they
have no manual stop controls of their own.
The roll player uses
165-note band organ rolls. The organ has been fitted with a MIDI
interface computer with record and playback capabilities to record both
rolls and or live performances.
