The remarkable and handsome “high Victorian” Gothic building was built in 1875 by the
Unitarian Congregational Society, and is entirely of local stone, including the 100’ spire.
The architects were E. Boyden & Son of Worcester, Mass., and all of the stained glass
was made by James Baker & Son of New York City. Including $7,000 for the furnishings,
the edifice cost $38,500. E.& G.C. Hook & Hastings installed a 2-14 tracker-action organ
which stood in the chamber housing the present Estey instrument, and the 1875 organ is
in use in the Unitarian Church, Warwick, Mass. Omega Optical, Inc., purchased the building
 in 1975 and  have preserved the interior decorations and stained glass.

The now-unplayable Estey has a walnut case front somewhat similar to that of its predecessor;
the Swell enclosure is above that for the Great; and the detached console is in the right transept.
