Notes
The organ
is housed in a chamber at the front of the church - into which the
original Estey was recessed. The exposed Great division is on two
chests which are cantilevered off of the front wall and supported to
the ceiling by chains.
On the Great, the
8' Diapason and 8' Clarabella are from the Estey. The 4' Flute is the
original Estey Swell 4' Harmonic Flute,
and the 8' Flute is from that rank with the bottom octave borrowed from
the 8' Clarabella. The Gemshorn seems to be an addition. The 22/3' Twelfth borrows its bottom octave from the
Diapason unit. The II Mixture has an independent 11/3'
rank
and borrows the 1' component from the Diapason unit.
On the Swell, the 8' Principal is from the 4' Octave, and borrows its
bottom octave from the 8' Gedeckt.
The 8' Gedeckt is the original 8' Stopped Diapason. The 8' Salicional
is original and the pipes are marked,
A630 on the bottom octave of the pipe body. The Haskelled pipes are
marked A576, and the first non-Haskelled pipe
is marked B196. The 8' Voix Celeste pipes are marked 2441 and are
of unknown provenance. The 4' Flute d'Amour
is from the 8' Gedeckt, but there is no pipe extension for the
top octave. The 4' Viola is extended from the 8' Salicional.
The 2 2/3' Nazard is derived from the Salicional
unit, and the 2' Violina is also from the 8' Salicional.
There should be 12 more pipes since the space is available on the
toeboard and the notes are winded.
The 11/3' Larigot is also from the Salicional
unit, and like the 2' Violina, there should be 7 more pipes since the
holes are present on the chest and are winded. The 8' Trumpet
pipes are marked, 786.
The mouth are bearded. the compass is tenor C thru a 46.
On the Pedal, the 16' Bourdon is an extension of the Great 8'
Clarabella. The bottom 6 pipes are enclosed.
After middle c, the pipes are borrowed from the 4' Flute. The 16'
Gedeckt is an extension of the Swel 8' Gedeckt.
The church had a
committee of Boston A.G.O. "illuminary" come do an assessment of the
organ.
And the opinion of all the members across the board was to
replace the existing organ.
