Notes: According to an article in the December 1990 issue of The American Organist, the first organ for St. Paul's was a 2-manual hand-powered Hook & Hastings shipped around Cape Horn to San Diego for installation in the old church in 1887; it was the first pipe organ in the city. In 1915, a 3/19 Johnston (of Van Nuys CA) organ was installed, retaining 8 of the Hook & Hastings ranks. The organ was moved to the present building and, in 1953, ten more stops were added. These were made by Möller and installed by Leonard Dowling. Organ Historical Society Database: https://pipeorgandatabase.org/OrganDetails.php?OrganID=35828 |
