Notes: The original church was a wooden structure
built in 1837. Near
the end of the century the building burned; it was replaced in 1901
by the existing
structure, which is a brick duplicate of the 1837 structure. The ceiling
was intended as a inverted replica of Noah's ark. Op. 1333 replaced a 1936
3/34 Frazee. It is installed on the north wall of the chancel, with the
Positiv projected and exposed to view. The chancel was remodeled for the
installation, which included removal of chancel carpeting and replacement with
a
tile and slate floor. Phillip Steinhaus, and organ design consultant and
for some years on the staff of Aeolian-Skinner, was organist-choirmaster at the
time of installation. The January 1959 issue of The Diapasonsays
that
the "stoplist was drawn up in the summer of 1955 in London, England, by
the
late G. Donald Harrison and Mr. Steinhaus." Photo Source: Jeff Scofield Organ Historical Society Database: https://pipeorgandatabase.org/OrganDetails.php?OrganID=27236 |
