The announcement in the July 1958 issue of The Diapason states:

"The Western Maryland College dedicated a new Aeolian-Skinner organ and a carillon in the newly completed Baker Memorial Chapel May 4. The organ and carillon are the gifts of two Western Maryland alumni, Dr. Roger J. Whiteford, Washington DC attorney, and Joseph S. Whiteford, president of the Aeolian-Skinner Company. The instrument is a three-manual of classic design placed behind the altar of the chapel, and speaks directly into the body of the building. It was designed by Mr. Whiteford.  Gerald F. Cole heads the college music department."
