Notes: Arlington Street Church, the first public building in the Back Bay, was begun in 1859 and dedicated in 1861.  For it, architect Arthur Gilman took his inspiration from St. Martin-in-the-Fields, London. The freestone building is supported by 999 wooden piles and surmounted by a steeple containing 16 bells, rung by hand. The original Presbyterian congregation was gathered in 1729 for Scottish Calvinists, who met in a converted barn. Two church buildings preceded the present one, which has a collection of Tiffany stained glass windows believed to be the largest in any church.

Op. 1307 replaced Hutchings Op. 382 installed in 1895. Skinner added an 85-note Tuba in 1908 as Op. 154. Some of the existing pipe work was retained for Op. 1307, as was the Hutchings facade.
