Notes: The organ was installed in the 30-foot long music room in the home of wellknown pediatrician Dr. Raymond Mixsell. Marcel Dupré played the dedication recital. In addition to the organ, the music room also contained two grand pianos and a Pleyel harpsichord. The article in the December 1945 issue of The Diapason states that a few ranks and chests were reused from the 1916 California organ; actually, 26 ranks were reused. There were five chambers , each with its own electric heater, opening into the room and all manual divisions were under expression. The organ was on five inches of wind, except for seven inches for the Solo and fifteen inches for the Tuba Mirabilis and Pedal Trombone. An interesting feature of the organ was a coupler that quinted all 16' Pedal stops except for the Lieblich Gedeckt. It was reported to be exceedingly effective. The console and pipework were given to the Pasadena Presbyterian Church to be eventually used as a chapel organ, but the project came to naught. The console and the remaining pipework are now in poor condition. Organ Historical Society Database: https://pipeorgandatabase.org/OrganDetails.php?OrganID=24689 |
