Notes: The organ was installed in the Fall of 1938 and dedicated on November 30, 1939. The present lofty gothic sanctuary was dedicated on Reformation Sunday, 1939. There is evidence in the chambers that most, if not all, of Skinner Op. 525 was used for this instrument. Skinner removed Op. 525 from the chancel of Marble Collegiate Church, New York City, 1937-38. The number '525' is found stamped on many pipes in the St. John's instrument. An Antiphonal division was added in the north gallery by Chester A. Raymond in 1947. After that, the reeds were revoiced by Moller, who also replaced the Swell Cornopean with a French-style Trompette and added a 4' Clarion. The organ was extensively 'renovated' by a local builder in 1969. Reuter rebuilt and enlarged the organ to a 4/83 in 1993; they also provided a new console at that time. Most of the Skinner pipework was retained. The Pedal Diapason I became a 32' Bourdon and the Diapason II became the Contrabass.
